Today, our staff are learning from two amazing experts whose work supports our district’s goals! ? Shelley Moore, an expert on inclusion and diversity, is helping teachers design lessons that support all students by focusing on their unique strengths and needs from the start, as well as how to take flexible approaches with the curriculum. ? Carole Fullerton, a leader in numeracy, is sharing strategies to make math more engaging and accessible for every student, no matter their skill level. Numeracy is a key focus area for improvement in our district’s strategic plan. These workshops are giving our teachers new tools to create inclusive and impactful learning experiences for all students. ?

As part of Carihi Secondary’s restoration efforts, crews will be conducting extreme thermal fogging of the five fire-damaged B-wing classrooms tomorrow, Friday, January 17, starting after 3 p.m. Extreme thermal fogging involves heating and spraying a deodorizer in fog form. This mixture attaches to smoke particles and absorbs them, neutralizing any odour from the building’s ceiling panels, walls, and flooring. During this process, what looks like smoke may leak out of doors, windows, and vents. This is a normal part of the process and not a cause for concern. Given that this fogging may resemble smoke, we want to inform the community to prevent any alarm. We are also notifying the Campbell River Fire Department about this work. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to restore Carihi. Thank you for your continued support!

Remember that all schools will be closed on Friday, January 17 for a Pro-D Day. Staff will be participating in valuable training sessions to enhance student learning.
